Shows the hard work that can go into making a tool
After seeing the work that goes into making an axe by hand, it really gives me a heightened sense of appreciation for modern manufacturing processes and all the effort and inventiveness it took to get to them. Fascinating video, well worth watching.
Very interesting and well done
Blacksmiths demonstrate the process of bloom smeltery beginning with gathering the ore. Bloom smelting is an ancient method that produces a large chunk of very ductile high phosphorus iron. Anyone interested in blacksmithing or history would find this worth watching. The production quality of the video is good and Sauder provides quite a bit of detail about the process. Don't miss the ore-sniffing dog!
GREAT video
This is a great video. It starts from finding the ore on the ground then to smelting then forging. I never realized how simple the steps were to the production of a mettle tool. However, it took humans thousands of years to perfect the process. I am thinking of buying the DVD.
